Squash Regulations & Etiquette

Squash Court Usage

Courts MUST be pre-booked and every player who will be on court in a booking must be named on the booking system.

Please cancel your booking as soon as possible if you later find that you are unable to use it. You and/or your playing partner can cancel a court anytime up to 24 hours before the start time and a full refund will be made. You can cancel less than 24 hours before the start time but the full amount will be charged (£2.50 per player) unless the court is re-booked by someone else before the start time in which case a full refund is made.

You may be unable to book if your membership is overdue or your bookings account is in deficit.

If court lights don’t turn on, check that the manual override switch on the lobby cupboard is set to “Online.” If so but the system is malfunctioning you may need to use the manual override and enter £1 coins in the meter, Email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will credit your online account accordingly.

If you don’t manage to finish your game and the next time slot is booked there is nothing you can do unless you agree something amongst yourselves. If the next time slot is not booked you can play on by engaging the manual "Coin" override and feeding £1 coins in the appropriate meter. Remember to move the override switch back to its original “Online” position when you exit the court.

To help maintain our courts in good condition please:
 - Only use non-marking shoes;
 - Shoes used on court should not be used for other purposes, eg. jogging or tennis;
 - Always wipe your feet on entering the squash court lobby and the courts;
 - Ensure your racket head's leading edge is taped. Tape and scissors are in the squash court lobby; and
 - The court heaters are controlled by thermostat. Under no circumstances should you attempt to adjust the thermostat or switch off the heaters.

 Guests

Guests invited by members are welcome but their name MUST be entered and payment made online at the time of booking the court, even for family guests.

An individual guest may play a maximum of four sessions at the club in any twelve month period, and may only play together with the member who has invited and pre-booked them on the system.

Guest and court fees are paid by the member who makes the booking, so you must have sufficient credit on your own online booking account to cover all guest fees at the time you make the booking.

A video guide to adding credit for payment of guest fees can be found here.

Any member who brings a non-member to play at the club without entering their name in each booked slot and pre-paying the guest fee may be charged a penalty guest fee of £20 in addition to regular session guest fees. Repeated infringement may result in suspension of the member’s playing privileges.
